Getting Lost by Øystein Sture Aspelund

Another great series by photographer Øystein Sture Aspelund with Getting Lost. “This series can be seen as a “maze” of random places. Thematically, it is focusing on different sensations of GETTING LOST, walking away and disappearing from everyday life, along with its routines and repetitions. It envisions numerous escapes, motivated by an instinctive quest for new discoveries, experiences and encounters. The series shows different places and events, as it momentarily changes between emotions and moods of clarity and happiness, to distraction and confusion. While faced with the unknown, it plays on our basic need to find answers and explanations of what we do not immediately understand.”

I am a photographer based in Trondheim, Norway. Shooting both analog and digital, I see my work as a response and reaction to my surroundings. Thematically I aim to have a kind of cultural presence in my photographs. I am fascinated by the contrast between nature and culture, and I seek to always have a representation of this relationship in my projects. I work in series, where each series has a unique concept with sets of rules that I attend to follow.
